Oddly enough, I experience my deepest connection with nature when surfing in the ocean. When people ask me what surfing is like, I reply ...
Imagine a storm thousands of miles away in the south or north Pacific Ocean where the intense winds infuse energy into the water, creating a "swell" that travels all the way to the West Coast. Note that the water itself is not moving eastward, just the energy travels.
When those swells reach the shallow water along the coast and "break" as waves on a beach, that energy is released as sound (the "crashing wave") and light. Now, to "catch a wave" you must paddle your surfboard to "catch up" with it. And, the very moment you catch it and start to glide down the face of the wave, you can feel a surge of energy throughout your body ... it's like "the hand of God" grabs you and pushes you forward. It's truly magical, like nothing else I have ever experienced. That's why, after 60 years of surfing, I'm still doing it.
I do a similar silence on my back deck in the mornings and love watching the nature wake up. The trees and the sounds the leaves make when the wind blows through them. The happy chatter or the squirrels and the birds at my neighbors bird feeder. A silent bunny hopping by. My cat usually joins with me in silence as we watch the quiet beauty of nature around us.
Beautiful! We have a giant cottonwood tree, and it’s amazing how the wind in its leaves sounds almost like a waterfall or a heavy rain. I love how each tree has its own “voice”.
I wake up , eat breakfast but fail to speak to God, then my day is never what I want it to be. I should acknowledge Him look for His kingdom and then move through my day. Then He isn’t so silent,
Thank you for sharing your beautiful insights and experiences of alignment. Love how you describe your appreciation for the generosity of a fruit tree.
Breaha, beautifully written ... as always.

Love your poem. It reminds me of mornings at my father’s land in Pennsylvania.
Lovely, poignant, and meaningful, Breaha
Thank you, PD. It’s a joy to know you feel that way.
